The Padres have designated 26-year old righty starting pitcher Cesar Carrillo for assignment. Carrillo pitched in 3 games (all starts) for the Padres this year and he was 1-2 with a 13.06 ERA and a 2.71 WHIP. He gave up 16 hits (4 homers) and he walked 12 batters in only 10 1/3 innings this year for the Padres. Carrillo also pitched in 27 games (all starts) in AAA-ball this year and he was 5-14 with a 5.60 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP. The Padres saw enough of Carrillo to know that he wasn’t ever going to help them much.

UPDATE: (9/10/2010) - The Phillies have claimed Carrillo off waivers.

Young has now pitched in 94 games (all starts) for the Padres in five years with them and he is 32-25 with a 3.66 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP.
