The Padres have acquired 23-year old righty starting pitcher Sean Gallagher from the A’s to complete the Scott Hairston trade. This might tip the scale in the Padres’ favor in this trade. Gallagher pitched in 6 games (2 starts) for the A’s this season and he was 1-2 with a 8.16 ERA and a 1.95 WHIP before getting demoted to AAA. In AAA Gallagher got it turned around. He has started 5 games in AAA this season and he is 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP. He has pitched in 37 games (23 starts) in his major league career and he is 6-9 with 1 save, a 5.80 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. Look for Gallagher to love pitching in San Diego as it will be easier for him to trust his outstanding stuff playing half of his games at Petco Park.
