The San Diego Padres place Bryan Corey on the D.L.

The Padres have placed righty reliever Bryan Corey on the 15-day disabled list due to a sore left hamstring. Corey has pitched in 39 games (0 starts) for the Padres this season and he is 1-3 with a 6.23 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. To replace Corey on the active roster the Padres have recalled 24-year old righty swinging shortstop Sean Kazmar. Kazmar has played in 111 games in AA-Ball this season and he was 101 for 382 (.264 avg, .692 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 3 homers, 39 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. It’s entirely possible that Kazmar could get substantial playing time at shorstop as they have had problems filling the injured Khalil Greene’s shoes there.
