This will really hurt the Padres as starting catcher Josh Bard is already on the D.L. The Padres have recalled 24-year old, righty swinging Nick Hundley from AAA to replace Barrett likely as the starter until Barrett or Bard are ready to return from the D.L. Hundley will likely be the starter because backup catcher Luke Carlin is clearly overmatched in the majors. Carlin has played in 21 games for the Padres this season and he is 10 for 67 (.149 avg, .464 OPS) with 8 runs scored and 2 RBIs.
